Chileans abroad lend a hand to women’s organizations in Maule and Bío Bío

Post-earthquake Campaign: Women Donating to Women

The fundraising campaign directed towards women’s and feminist organizations affected by the earthquake and tsunami of the morning of the 27th of February, named Women Donating to Women, continues to move forward. Now, we are directing funds so that organizations can resume the political action that they carry out in their communities.

Keeping in mind the goals of the conference of the Red Internacional de Fondos de Mujeres (International Women’s Fund), which took place between the 17th and 22nd of May in Mongolia and was attended by our Executive Coordinator, Sara Mandujano, we encourage donations to Chilean women. We received nine donations from partners from other funding organizations for a total of $360 USD. To encourage donations, we shared a postcard asking for donations and a pin with the words “I Donate.” The pins are on sale at Fondo Alquimia and all funds raised will be added to the campaign Women Donating to Women.

On June 2nd, Fondo Alquimia delivered the last of the donations raised by this campaign, thanks to the Fundación Diáspora Solidaria, which through its campaign in Holland and España was able to raise 820 Euros, together with support from the conference in Mongolia. In all, we raised $718.180 (about $1,350 USD) that were distributed amongst 14 organizations in the Maule and Bío Bío regions. We hope that these grants allow the receiving organizations to begin the work of reestablishing communication and continuing their activities and actions.
