With the goal of expanding Alquimia’s “Women Supporting Women” network of donors, María José Lizana Varela, coordinator of the netowrk, traveled to Valparaíso and connected with a group of women to encourage them to join the network. The meeting took place on April 10th, in a café in Plaza Aníbal Pinto. Five new donors were added to the network.
In the meeting, the women talked about the importance of funding in the activist movement. They reiterated that when we talk about feminist activism, the donations of women is essential For Alquimia, donations are a political act. In the case of our network of donors, it expresses solidarity and commitment to women’s activism.
We plan to continue this kind of meeting. Throughout the year, we will organize meetings in different cities throughout the country with the goal of decentralizing and expanding our donor network. The cities we want to plan meetings in are: Iquique, Valparaíso, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt and Chiloé. This strategy also includes the incorporation of donors living abroad.
