“Latin American Feminist Debates” is an article based on the work of María Stella Toro Céspedes, developed as a Masters thesis in Latin American Studies at the University of Chile. The book attempts to analyze feminist discussions of the past few decades in Latin America, especially dealing with the logic of political action: the strategy of involvement in public politics and the “movement-oriented” strategy. According to the author, both strategies have been confronted in interactions between feminists of the region. The text also analyzes as a key theme the roll that these two strategies have had, the NGOs tied to the women’s movement and the centers for feminist study. More specifically the book follows the trajectories these organisms have followed and the transformations generated by the demands of international cooperation, beginning in the ’90s. Debates Feministas Latinoamericanos. Edited by La Calabaza del Diablo. 2009. Price, $5.000 CLP
