Feminismo Radical (Radical Feminism)
“Feminismo radical de la diferencia” (Radical Feminism of Difference) is an article written by Andrea Franulic, a chilean feminist who has studied with Margarita Pisano. In this article, she reveals the foundations of Pisano, about how we situate ourselves from our alienation and begin a political movemement from this place.
As “foreigners of our civilization,” Franulic defines us in relation to the place that we have in our cultural patriarchy. We are outside of our civilization. Our political potential can be related directly to this situation of exclusion. From being left out of history and defined constantly by others, we are placed in a place of difference. The article suggests that we take advantage of this radical difference. Our exclusion allows us the possibility to investigate the idea of femininity, and contrast the vision that has been perpetuated about what it means to be or not be a woman.
The article prioritizes Pisano’s idea of masculinity/femininity as an indivisible whole. The historical divisions when looking at thought and the construction and recording of culture meant that women were excluded from this thought. The aspiration of radical feminism of difference deconstructs the foundations of the patriartical system, in Franulic’s words, “the projection of a political goal that dismounts domination as the form of relations and gives a space to difference as an existential principle.”
